Antique Frames, and a Question

The question is not do I frame artwork, but do I put artwork in the frame.  

That might seem like a strange question to most, but to you, I know it will sound normal. (At that's why I tell you what I'm doing and not my next-door neighbor.)

When I found these on eBay, I thought, "why not?"  They are made with wonderful plaster that's chipping off in a decidedly delightful way.

So did it bother me that I didn't have anything to put in the frames?  Of course not.  I was going to put them on the wall, but set them in front of the fireplace momentarily.  When I went to pick them up, I decided I liked them there.

Since I changed this room from red to white, I knew that I could bring in my blue French enamelware pitcher too.

I also put this vintage sewing basket in here. It covers up the missing bits of the rush seat.

The frames are leaning against a bit of yard fencing I bought and use as a fireplace grate. It's really much more form that function.

To the left of the fireplace are some vintage sconces I bought at a garage sale years ago.  I also just painted the fireplace mantle.

So what would you do?  Should I put some artwork in the frames, put them on the walls, or leave them where they are?  Just don't come up with anything too taxing, or it won't happen.
