Antique Iron Bed

I was looking on Craigslist minding my own business, when I found an antique iron bed for $60. Okay, so maybe I didn't NEED a new-to-me antique iron bed, but this one was really cute and believe it or not, I had a place for it -- on my back porch.

Some of you are saying, "Isn't that the same daybed you have always had back there?  Well, no.

If you look closely, you'll see this one is different.

So what did I do with the one that used to be here?  I moved it down to the creek. (Pictures to follow.)  I even made more more bedding from drop cloths.  (I'll share that too.)  That was the project that broke my sewing machine earlier this year.

But back to my porch.

This is just my most favorite place to be, except Paris.

Cupcakes anyone??

Here is one of my new drop-cloth pillows, sweet and simple.  I covered some old pillows I wasn't using.  And the drop cloths were

Here's the "pie safe" I bought for our wildflower party.  It adds some much needed storage on the porch.

These are some metal bar stools I bought at World Market for about $35 each. They were on clearance, works for me. I cook out here a lot with my electric skillet on this stainless steel table from Ikea.

It's fun to be outside, the cooking doesn't heat up the house, and since I don't have an exhaust fan (my daughter calls it an "exhaustion fan) this is an ideal place to cook, so long as it isn't too hot or cold.

Can you see the hay bales in the distance?

Here you can see down the porch from the other direction.

I love sitting on the bed out here and reading magazines -

while maybe eating one of these.

The mosquito net keeps the pests away.

As the sun sets, it is so beautiful out here.  I really wish you could join me in person, but this will have to do for now.

Here's a list of the parties that I visit on a regular basis.  I might have shared this link at any number of these.

Actually I don't have a porch... lol!
I have a deck that is uncovered, BUT below the deck
there IS a SPACE I could transform in something like it!
Beautiful!!!

I think I'd rather sit on your porch than go to Paris. I might be in the minority but I have never wanted to go. Or maybe it's just because you tempted me with chocolate.

I love the lines of your new bed even though we couldn't see it clearly because of the netting but I totally undestand the need for it. We have pesky pests up here in OK, too :)
A lovely place to spend some time on your porch...we had a beautiful sunset, much like yours, last week and it was almost enough to take your breath away.
