My $5 Round Top Bargain

It should come as no surprise to you, that I found several goodies at Round Top this year, but you won't believe what I got for $5.  Can you tell?

Before I get to my big Round Top bargain this year, I wanted to tell you about someone famous that we ALMOST saw.  Apparently a very famous person was shopping just ahead of us.  I won't say who it was, but I got a picture as evidence. (Carolyn made me take it.)

I wish I had taken a full photo of the chair he bought. It was a funky wingback chair in this khaki canvas fabric.  I also heard that Ralp Lauren's people were there buying up lots of goodies, but we missed them as well.

Okay back to my Round Top deal...

Give up?

It's the vintage white lace duvet cover at the foot of my bed.

It has lots of pretty details.  It's cotton, not linen, but for $5, I'm thrilled!  I had bought some vintage linen sheets from eBay, that had never been used or washed, that I planned to transform into a duvet cover for this bed, but now I can use those sheets for something else.

The duvet cover really has some pretty details.

Here's what the bed looked like before, and the after.

I also put my bedspread on wrong side up.  This side is a creamy white, a nice alternative to the oatmeal color on the right side.
The lamps have also been changed.  Notice, I said "changed" which means the new ones aren't new at all, but from a different room.  I actually bought these lamps over ten years ago from Ballard Designs.  I merely changed out the shades for new burlap striped ones from Target.

I have always appreciated the crystals that hang on these lamps.

And this lamp, since it is old, is actually metal, whereas most of the new lamps are resin.

I love the scrollwork detail on the base also.

Here's what the old ones looked like.
(Note to Peggy:  Yes I know, the new lamps look "awful" here and would look much better in your house.)
So for less than $50,  I have a fresh look in my room.  I love it when that happens, and I spend lots of time telling Mr. CH what a bargain I got so he won't notice the other non-bargain stuff.

What a bargain! That looks like an incredibly comfortable bed. The entire room looks lovely. I'm not sure I would be able to get up! You know in my reality a muddy beagle would find her way on there!
Thank you for stopping by for a visit.

That was the $5 steal of the century! It's amazing what just a little change will do. I especially liked the burlap shades on the lamps with the crystals, such a nice contrast. You just keep Mr. CH focused on the bargains:)
