Happy Holidays in the Dining Room

My daughter has been lamenting that it doesn't feel like Christmas because the house isn't decorated, and we don't have a full-sized Christmas tree this year.  (Not my fault, REALLY. It's the table we inherited from my MIL... the table that knew too much that is in the way. We'll have room for a tree next year.)

I knew about the tree problem, but I was as surprised as you were to hear that our house is not decorated for Christmas.  I mean REALLY?  What have I been doing for the last month?

And okay, we don't have a big Christmas tree in the house, but seriously, we HAVE Christmas trees in the house. They may be a little small.

I wanted to say, "Perhaps if you... oh I don't know... read my blog, or walked around the house without staring at your phone all the time, you might have noticed that the house IS decorated for Christmas."

Instead I just smiled my mom smile.  You know the smile, it's the one you use when you want to step on their foot, but you don't, because you are a mom, and that would be bad.

And then... a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE happened.

As she walked past the dining room, it's as if a veil was suddenly lifted and she could suddenly see.

"Oh," she said, "I guess we DO have Christmas decorations."

And then the angels sang...

"HAL-LE-LU-JAH!"

Oh that's so funny! I love the glass house filled with ornaments and the cup holder (?) with the little stockings and cups on it - adorable! I have to admit -- I probably DID step on some feet through the years and smiled anyway :)

That's too funny because my children thought the same thing because I used a smaller tree this year. Your decorations are beautiful.

With or without a tree, your home is still festive and lovely! :) I've been trying to simplify the last two years, because my schedule is just so hectic, and I get this from my daughter too. ha! ...love the little truck with the tree on top!

LOVE the little truck and bottle brush. I've been wanting a vinatge French bottle/cup rack for years but they're SO expensive! Love the wreaths, too. I've been waiting for my Antique Farmhouse boxwood wreaths to arrive, hope they get here before Christmas! Oh, and my daughter ~ exactly the same way. Could kill her sometimes. Not that that's much comfort, I suppose:) Enjoy the holidays, friend!

Anita this is too funny. I personally love your decorations and all their subtle beauty. But they might get missed by my guys too. I might have to take them by their 6 feet high shoulders and actually point out that little truck to them. They mostly live with blinders on, which I might add, they inherited from their father since they all insist they can't see their 'messes' either. haha. I heard girls are so much better.

Yeap you do not have to have a tree...I always think some random acts of kindness...and the spirit of Christmas goes a long way....

Sometimes I want to snatch the phone or I pad out of the hands of family...a no phone rule sign I see coming....in my future....I know my Sis would love it...

Your table and other toys are looking fantastic. But your whole room is looking not good because there is very less furniture. There are so many online cheap furniture stores, and top class furniture is available in very good rates. But over all your Christmas decorations are nice
